Inspired by Columbus’ rich agricultural history and The Junto's unconventional spirit, our coffee shop is named in honor of Maudine, Ohio State University’s 1926 Homecoming Queen—who also happened to be a cow. This legendary campus prank, a fittingly cheeky nod to the curiosity and wit that defined the original Junto Club, perfectly embodies our own playful approach.

More than just a café, Maudine’s extends into The Junto's lobby, courtyard, and surrounding community, creating a welcoming spot for locals and visitors alike. The design of the space balances bold and soft elements, radiating a joyful confidence, and playfully blending humor and history. The café is like an eccentric neighbor offering a warm cookie and a cozy, hand-quilted blanket, inviting you to feel right at home.

The Maudine’s brand itself exudes friendliness and confident charm, never taking itself too seriously. The handwritten primary mark, with its optimistic, upward-climbing letters, captures a whimsical spirit. The brand’s contemporary feel is complemented by clean supporting typography and a modern color palette, thoughtfully paired with historic black and white photographs of Maudine and the infamous 1926 Homecoming. Just as the original Junto Club gathered diverse minds to discuss ideas and challenge conventions, Maudine’s invites guests to linger, connect, and enjoy moments of shared discovery. All hail Maudine, our Holstein queen!
