Founded in 1916, and still open year-round, the resort has been a beloved destination for more than a century.
The original Danish family that owned it—The Sorensens—blended Scandinavian craft with the Sierra Nevada landscape.
Our task was to update and outfit the 28 mismatched cabins, while simultaneously honoring the resort’s heritage, amplifying its natural beauty, and sustaining its connection to the surroundings.
Layouts were kept unfussy and straightforward, with sophisticated touches throughout to ensure the rustic beauty of the cabins was balanced with warm hospitality.
In addition to layouts, we designed 18 pieces of furniture, carefully crafted to address the needs of each cabin experience.
And cabin signs were updated to match the original Scandinavian folk art style.
Beyond the cabins, we also outfitted a small collection of yurts perched high above the stunning views of the valley.
And we rounded out the whole experience by decorating a fully refurbished 1951 Spartan trailer.
